Holly Anderson Named Conference USA Hitter of the Week

HOUSTON - Holly Anderson was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week following her 9-for-16 (.562) showing at the plate and leading the league in runs (6) and steals (5). The Cougars 4-1 over the week as Anderson earned her first C-USA weekly award this season and the second of her career.
Anderson extended her hitting streak to 10 games overall and 12-straight in C-USA games. She posted three multiple-hit games over the week as Houston claimed two run-rule victories including
The Dickinson, Texas, native ranks in the top-10 in C-USA in numerous offensive categories including RBIs (fifth, 35), runs (sixth, 33), home runs (sixth, 9) and steals (eighth, 13).
As the lead off batter, Anderson set the pace for Houston's offense in their 4-1 week with two-run rule victories. She scored in her first at bat of the game three times as Houston improved to 10-0 on the year when that happens.
This is the third time a Houston batter has been named the weekly recipient of the C-USA award. Diedre Outon (March 26) and Reina Gaber (Feb. 21) have previously been selected as well as Diedre Outon (Feb. 13) as C-USA Pitcher of the Week.
UCF freshman Mackenzie Audas was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for a second straight week after she struck out 33 batters in 21.2 innings and allowed just seven hits.

Houston travels to first-place Tulsa for a series this weekend with Saturday's game at 3:30 p.m. televised on FOX Sports Network for a second straight week.
