HOUSTON - University of Houston senior guard Roxana Button added another honor to a record-breaking season on Thursday, earning Conference USA Women's Basketball All-Academic Team accolades.
Button was recognized as one of the top student-athletes in the league for the third-straight season, joining Tiffani Couisnard (Tulsa), Amber Jones (UAB), Kayli Keough (UCF) and Kelli Willingham (UTEP) on the list.
Button, who recently became the first player in program history and only the fifth in the league all-time to garner Capital One Academic All-America First-Team honors, graduated in December with 3.87 GPA in psychology and will enroll in medical school in the summer.
With only one regular-season contest remaining, Button is poised to become just the third Cougar (Tye Jackson, Chandi Jones) to claim the conference scoring title with 17.8 points per game. Button also leads the league in minutes played (38.1), 20-point games (12), 30-point performances (3) and made free throws (142).
Button joined the school's 1,000-point club on Feb. 2 and looks to compete in her 121st-consecutive game in Thursday's regular-season finale at Tulane, which ranks as the second-longest streak in school history.
