HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team continues its five-match homestand this weekend, playing host to Northwestern State at 10 a.m., Saturday and UTSA at noon, Sunday, at John E. Hoff Courts.
The Cougars claimed their first win of the 2012 season in dominant fashion on Feb. 3, blanking McNeese State by a score of 7-0 indoors at the Metropolitan Racquet Club.
Freshman Liselot Koenen improved to a perfect 3-0 on the season in singles action while four Cougars claimed their first wins of the spring.
The Cougars have been much improved in doubles play so far this season, posting a 6-3 overall mark, led by Houston's top tandem of Bryony Hunter and Giorgia Pozzan. The Cougar duo is 2-1 this spring to improve to 22-10 together since the start of the 2010-11 season, which ranks 10th in Houston history in winning percentage (.688).
Northwestern State comes to Houston after knocking off SEC member Mississippi State to open the season, while UTSA also holds an unblemished 2-0 record entering this weekend's action.
