HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's soccer team fell to North Texas, 1-0, at Robertson Stadium.
"We just have to compete," said head coach Susan Bush. "Today North Texas was more competitive, and they won."
Houston matched North Texas' shot attempts in the first half, but the Mean Green capitalized on a key possession sending one of it's five shots into the back of the net. Kelsey Pearlman scored the game-winning goal in the 29th minute. Pearlman's shot from 20 yards out slipped just under the goal post and over the outstretched arms of Houston keeper Cami Koski.
Although the Cougars nearly doubled their shot attempts in the second half, they were unable to score. Houston had its chances in the second half, the best coming in the 77th minute when Sharis Lachappelle fired a shot from the left wing that was saved by Mean Green goalkeeper Jackie Kerestine.
"Everybody just has to relax and play their own game," said Koski. "I have to continue to hold us up on the back end and hopefully solidify our goalkeeping spot." Koski fell to 0-2-0 on the season after recording five saves and allowing one goal. Koski now holds a 1.50 GAA with eight saves on the season.
