HOUSTON - Former University of Houston women's basketball star Sancho Lyttle and the Atlanta Dream advanced to the WNBA Finals for the second-straight season after knocking off the Indiana Fever in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night.
Lyttle, who starred for the Cougars from 2003-05, posted her second double-double of the playoffs with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while also swiping five steals, to help the Dream capture the Finals berth.
In five playoff games against the Fever and the Connecticut Sun, Lyttle averaged 11.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game.
The Dream will face the Minnesota Lynx, who are making their first WNBA Finals appearance in franchise history. The Lynx are led by Seimone Augustus (20.4 ppg) and this year's No. 1 draft selection Maya Moore (15.2 ppg). Game One will begin Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Lyttle, who recently signed a multi-year extension with the Dream, holds Houston single-season records in rebounds (362), rebound average (12.1) and offensive rebounds (142) set during the 2004-05 season.
