HOUSTON - Brittney Scott and Courtney Taylor, two of the most decorated players in Houston women's basketball history, have signed professional contracts to play basketball in Spain. Scott inked with Ourense and Taylor signed with AG.DVA.BALONCESTOS AVILES (ADBA), both of the Spanish League.
"I've been playing basketball all of my life, so to get to this level and achieve another goal, it feels really good," said Scott.
The two former Cougars begin training camp in September, and the season officially kicks off in October and will run through May.
As senior teammates, Scott and Taylor led the Cougars to one of the most memorable runs in school history as Houston went 26-6 overall and became only the second Conference USA team to go a perfect 16-0 in league play.
The prolific duo combined for 3,206 points in four seasons as Taylor ended her career ranking fourth at Houston with 1,684 points, and Scott followed in seventh with 1,522 points.
On Jan. 20, 2011 at UAB, Scott and Taylor both set Houston career records as Scott shattered Chandi Jones' all-time 3-pointers made mark and finished with 226 career treys, while Taylor surpassed Vickey Finch as the school's all-time rebounds leader (1,165). Taylor also holds the Houston record with 60 career double-double performances.
Scott and Taylor join Sancho Lyttle as former Cougars now playing in the professional ranks. Lyttle starred at Houston from 2003-05 and was the fifth overall pick of the 2005 WNBA Draft. Lyttle is in her sixth season in the League and is a two-time All-Star selection with the Atlanta Dream.
