University of Houston senior signal caller Case Keenum has been named to the 2011 Davey O'Brien Award watch list, an award given nationally to the nation's best quarterback. Keenum was a finalist for the award in 2009.
Keenum is closing in on the NCAA all-time records for total offense, passing yards and touchdowns thrown. Keenum has been a mainstay on the NCAA lists for offense after leading the nation in total offense in both 2008 and 2009. He has won 22 games as the starting quarterback at UH and has a chance to become the all-time winningest quarterback in school history.
In his career, Keenum has been named to eight All-America teams and has been a finalist for three national offensive awards including the prestigious Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. He was the 2009 Conference USA Most Valuable Player, the 2008 C-USA Offensive Player of the Year and the 2007 league Freshman of the Year. On top of the athletic awards, Keenum is a five-time Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
Quarterbacks from all 120 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Oct. 24. The Foundation and the Selection Committee will announce three finalists on Monday, Nov. 21. The 2011 Davey O'Brien winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 8.
