Terran Alford Rounds Out Women's Basketball Signing Class

HOUSTON - University of Houston head women's basketball coach Todd Buchanan has announced the signing of Terran Alford to a National Letter of Intent, becoming the 10th prospect to sign with the program for the 2011-12 season.
"Terran is the epitome of a true student-athlete and her character is second to none," said Buchanan. "Not only did we get a great kid from a great family, but it also gets us into the Oklahoma City area, where I would like to get more involved."
Alford, a 6-1 post player, starred for the Oklahoma City Storm, a homeschool basketball team, averaging 10.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game as a senior.
Alford, a two-time NCHBC Girl's All-America selection, recorded 14 double-digit scoring performances and five double-doubles in her senior season.
"Terran is incredibly talented from a basketball standpoint," Buchanan said. "She's a little raw, but is hungry to learn. Terran has a lot of intangibles that you can't coach, such as heart, desire and an incredible attitude. Her defensive game is ahead of her offense right now because of her length and athleticism, but she'll put in the work."
Alford joins nine other student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to play for Houston, which includes Marissa Ashton (6-0, F, Dickinson, Texas, Texas Tech), Jamie Drummer (5-7, G, Muncie, Ind., Muncie Central HS), Mileka Loydrake (5-6, G, League City, Texas, Clear Springs HS), Amanda Lawson (5-10, F, Bryan, Texas, Bryan HS), Voche' Martin (6-2, C, Duncanville, Texas, Duncanville HS), Danielle Parks (5-10, G, Houston, Texas, St. Pius X HS), Tahlia Pope (6-0, G, Wichita, Kan., Heights HS), Towanda Sutton (5-11, F, Philadelphia, Pa., Odessa JC) and LaTasha Tubbs (5-8, G, Amarillo, Texas, Howard College).
