Schedule Set For Conference USA Baseball Championship

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After finishing the 2011 regular season with a 12-12 Conference USA record, the University of Houston baseball team has earned the No. 6 seed in the Conference USA Baseball Championship presented by Trustmark, May 25-28.
As the sixth seed, Houston will be joined in pod number two by No. 2 seed Southern Miss, No. 3 seed East Carolina and No. 7 seed Tulane. Pod number one features No. 1 seed Rice, No. 4 seed UCF, No. 5 seed Memphis and No. 8 UAB.
The tournament will be played at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Miss., and will feature the top eight teams in regular-season conference play. Those teams will be split in to two four-team pods, with the winner of each pod playing in the championship game. Each team is guaranteed to play three games, playing the other teams in its pod. The team with the best composite record in each pod will advance to the final.
The Cougars will open tournament play against East Carolina at 4 p.m., Wednesday. They will continue pod play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Southern Miss and conclude at 4 p.m. Friday against Tulane.
Each game of the championship on Wednesday and Friday will be streamed live on ConferenceUSA.com. All four games on Thursday will be televised live by CSS. The championship game on Saturday, May 28 will be televised live by CBS Sports Network, beginning at 7 p.m. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
