Button Earns Capital One Academic All-District Honors

HOUSTON - For the second-consecutive season, University of Houston women's basketball junior Roxana Button was selected to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Second Team.
Button has been a consistent performer both on the court and in the classroom. The Coppell, Texas, native holds a 3.88 GPA in psychology and plans to attend medical school after graduation. Last season, Button was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team and has earned a spot on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice and is a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Medal.
Button has been a key contributor off the bench for the first-place Cougars (17-4, 8-0) this season, averaging 6.7 points and ranking second on the squad with 23 made 3-pointers on 65 attempts (35.4 percent). Button ranks second all-time at Houston in 3-point percentage (36.6) and fourth in Cougar history in free-throw percentage (75.6).
Along with Button's two Academic All-District honors, Twiggy McIntyre earned the first accolade for the Houston women's basketball program during the 2007-08 season.
