HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team will look to remain perfect in Conference USA play Sunday with its second meeting against Rice. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Houston (23-4, 14-0) set a new school record by extending its winning streak to 14 games with a 72-54 victory over Marshall on Thursday night. Brittney Scott caught fire with a game-high 24 points, highlighted by a 6-of-10 performance from 3-point range. Scott drained four second-half treys, each halting a Marshall run. Courtney Taylor registered her 18th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Porsche Landry added 15 points in the victory.
Houston features three of the top four scorers in the league as Scott (16.0 ppg), Taylor (15.2 ppg) and Landry (15.1 ppg) rank second, third and fourth, respectively. Taylor currently ranks fourth nationally in double-doubles and leads C-USA and ranks eighth in the country in rebounds per game (11.5). Scott also places second in the league in 3-point percentage (40.1) and 3-pointers per game (2.7).
Houston leads C-USA in scoring (74.8 ppg), scoring margin (+9.8), rebounding (44.3 rpg), defensive rebounds (28.8 rpg) and field goal percentage defense (36.7), while ranking second in blocked shots (4.9 bpg) and 3-point percentage (34.4) and third in turnover margin (+2.9), steals (10.6 spg) and free-throw percentage (69.3).
