TULSA, Okla. - The University of Houston women's basketball team returns to action at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night when it meets Tulsa at Reynolds Center in Tulsa, Okla. The Cougars have won 11 consecutive contests and can claim at least a share of the Conference USA regular season title with a victory Thursday.
Houston pushed its unbeaten C-USA record to 11-0 on Sunday with a 77-60 win over East Carolina. Brittney Scott and Porsche Landry led the Cougars in scoring with 20 and 16 points, respectively, while Lesslee Mason posted her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Houston features three of the top six scorers in the league as Scott ranks third (15.7 ppg), Landry ranks fourth (15.6 ppg) and Taylor ranks sixth (15.2 ppg). Landry has poured in a league-best 16.0 points per game in conference contests this season, while Taylor leads C-USA and ranks sixth nationally in rebounds per game (11.6) and eighth in double-doubles (15).
Houston currently leads C-USA in scoring (74.9 ppg), scoring margin (+9.0), rebounding (44.2 rpg), defensive rebounds (28.6 rpg) and field goal percentage defense (37.1), while ranking second in blocked shots (4.8 bpg) and third in turnover margin (+2.9) and 3-point percentage (34.2).
