Track and Field Concludes Texas A&M Conference Challenge

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team, along with Rice and UTEP, represented Conference USA at the Texas A&M Conference Challenge Saturday. The combined C-USA men's team finished in third place and the women finished in fourth.
The meet combined teams from four conferences inside the Gilliam Indoor Facility and the Cougar men accounted for 65 of the 107.50 total points for C-USA. Houston scored points in 13 events, with 18 points coming in the triple jump.
Chris Carter won the event with his leap of 15.77m/51-9 and Lamar Delaney took second (15.63m/51-3.5).
Junior Doug Kelley set the school-record in the 800m with his 1:50.03 finish. Kelley finished fourth in the event.
The men's 4x400m relay earned third place in 3:10.79. Kelvin Furlough, the starter of the relay team, also earned a third place victory with his personal record time of 46.69. That marks the fourth fastest in school history.
The anchor leg of the 4x400m, Errol Nolan, placed fifth in the 200m with his 21.11 time, also the fourth fastest in program history.
Christie Jones and Grecia Bolton both placed in the 60m, sixth and eighth respectively. Jones also earned an eighth place finish in the 200m.
Ciera Johnson earned seventh in the 800m with her 2:11.09 time.
UP NEXT
Houston travels to the LSU Twilight Meet in Baton Rogue, La. Friday, Feb. 12. This is the last indoor meet before the C-USA Championships are held at Yeoman Fieldhouse, Feb. 25-26.
