HOUSTON - University of Houston football seniors Case Keenum and Marcus McGraw were recognized Monday for their efforts in leading No. 6 Houston to a 48-16 rout of Tulsa, each earning Conference USA Player of the Week honors.
Keenum was named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and the 13th time overall after completing 33 passes for 457 yards and five scores against the Golden Hurricane.
Keenum surpassed the 400-yard mark for the 18th time in his career and posted his NCAA-record 37th game of 300-plus yards.
The Abilene, Texas, native came up in the clutch on several occasions during the early portion of a tight game, including twice on fourth downs.
With Houston leading 13-10 and facing a fourth and 10 with 12:08 remaining in the third quarter, Keenum tossed a laser in a tight window for a 33-yard touchdown to Patrick Edwards. After Tulsa converted two field goals to cut the lead to four points, Keenum bombed a 38-yard touchdown pass to Edwards on fourth and one against a heavy wind to bust the contest open.
With 457 yards and five scores, Keenum improved his nation-leading numbers to 4,726 passing yards and 43 touchdowns against only three interceptions.
Keenum continues to lead the nation in total offense (397.42) and ranks third in passing efficiency (187.34) while orchestrating the country's top passing offense (449.67), total offense (613.25) and scoring offense (52.67).
McGraw claimed his first-career C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award and the third for the Cougar defense this season after racking up 15 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss against Tulsa.
McGraw led a defensive unit that limited Tulsa's potent offensive attack to just 337 total yards on Friday.
The Arlington, Texas, native made solo stops in 12 of his 15 tackles to push his season total to a team-leading 120. McGraw also pushed his career total to 489 tackles, which ranks second in school history and is only 19 shy of the all-time mark.
McGraw currently ranks 18th nationally in tackles per game (10.00).
Houston (12-0, 8-0) will meet East Division Champion Southern Miss (10-2, 6-2) in the C-USA Championship Game at 11 a.m., Saturday at Robertson Stadium.
