Houston, Texas - Houston Football is nearing back-to-back sellouts. Fewer than 2,000 tickets for upcoming games against Marshall (Oct. 22) and Rice (Oct. 27) remain as the Cougars surge into the second half of the 2011 campaign, undefeated and nationally rank in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches (#20), Associated Press (#21) and Bowl Championships Series (#19) polls.
A number of events surround the upcoming contests, including 2011 Homecoming festivities before Saturday's game vs. Marshall. Kickoff vs. the Thundering Herd is slated for 3:30 p.m. and Houston will be wearing commemorative uniforms highlighting the 1960s and 70s era. Fans will also be able to enjoy a postgame fireworks performance.
Senior quarterback Case Keenum is on the cusp of breaking the NCAA's career total offense mark. The Abilene, Texas, native needs just 130 total yards on Saturday to break former Hawaii QB Timmy Chang's career total yardage mark (16,910). Keenum currently has 16,781 yards.
Houston then returns to action at Robertson Stadium when it hosts Rice on Oct. 27 (Thursday) in the 2011 Bayou Bucket Classic. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now and fans are encouraged to order in advance of both games. Tickets can be ordered by calling the UH Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS or by ordering online at UHCougars.com.
