HOUSTON - The Cougars start Conference USA action at home with matches against SMU, Friday at 7 p.m. and against Tulsa, Sunday at 1 p.m. Houston enters the C-USA schedule sporting a 5-2-1 record, one of the best in program history.
After playing five of the first eight games on the road, Houston will begin their conference schedule with four straight home contests.
Houston brings a two-game winning streak into this weekend's contests with wins over UTSA and Texas Southern. Over that two game span, Houston has outscored their opponents 10-1.
Over the entire course of the season, Houston holds a +16 goal differential with 21 goals scored and only five allowed. Four of their five wins have been shutouts.
Senior captain Lauri Byrne leads the team in scoring with four goals and freshman Sami Sackos is close behind at three goals scored. Twelve Cougars have scored a goal on the season which has been instrumental in Houston's offensive prowess.
SMU
Houston is 0-9-1 against SMU all-time but played them to a double-overtime draw last year in Dallas on a nationally televised game on CBS College Sports.
SMU holds a 5-2-2 record with their two losses coming against two top-15 teams (at No. 5 Portland - 0-2; No. 14 Oklahoma State, 1-2). The Mustangs have scored 12 goals while allowing only eight.
SMU's scoring leaders are Logan May and Shelby Redman who pace the Mustangs with three and two goals, respectively.
TULSA
Houston is 2-1-2 against Tulsa all-time with a 0-1 loss last season in Tulsa, Okla. The Golden Hurricane have outscored their opposition 17 to eight this year and their leading goal scorer is Claire Nicholson with six goals.
Tulsa comes to Houston holding a 5-3 record but are on a two-game losing streak after they dropped their last two matches at Central Arkansas and at Arkansas State.
