Houston finished the non-conference portion of the season winning their last five matches to improve to a 6-6 record.
After sweeping the competition last weekend at the Nicholls Challenge, Chandace Tryon was named the tournament MVP, while Amanda Carson was voted the Libero of the Tournament and Amber Brooks was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Cougars return to their home court for the first time in two weeks to begin C-USA action against their cross-town rival, Rice. The match begins a new format to the league slate, as each team will play 20 C-USA matches, with the conference champion earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Rice enters the match with a 5-7 record after going 2-1 at the Rice Invitational II last weekend. Ashleigh McCord leads the team with 139 kills and following in second with 111 kills is Nancy Cole. Libero Tracy Lam paces the team in digs with 231.
Tuesday's match-up will mark the 75th overall meeting between the two programs. Despite the Owls taking both matches last season, Houston holds a 58-16 lead in the all-time series.
