HOUSTON - Each week during the 2010 season, the University of Houston baseball team will feature one member of its team as the Player of the Week. The goal of having a Player of the Week is to give fans a chance to get to know the Cougars off the field.
This week's featured player is freshman catcher M.P. Cokinos. The Houston native has started the last five games at catcher but has played the majority of the season as the designated hitter. He is tied for the team lead with four home runs and is third with 23 RBIs. Cokinos was named to the Houston College Classic All-Tournament Team earlier this season after tying the tournament's single-game record with five RBIs. That total is a career-high for the freshman.
