Track & Field Sets Four Regional Marks at Texas Invite

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Houston track and field team set four NCAA regional qualifying marks at the Texas Invite on Saturday at the Mike A. Meyers Track Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Leading the way was senior Ivan Diggs, who finished fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.10m. Entering the meet as the nation's third-ranked high jumper, Diggs set his fifth regional qualifying mark of the season for the Cougars.
Freshman Grecia Bolton set a NCAA qualifying time of 23.76 in the 200m. Bolton finished in 11th place, setting her first career individual regional qualifying mark.
In the relays, the mens 4X100-meter team set a season best and NCAA RQ mark of 40.51 to finish first.
For the women, the 4X100-meter relay team also set a new season best and regional qualifying time of 44.30 to finish second.
After setting a NCAA mark in the 200m with a time of 23.85 at the Rice Twilight Meet on Wednesday, senior Seun Adigun notched another win in the 100m hurdles at the Texas Invite.
Adigun finished first with a wind-aided time of 13.03 The Chicago, Ill., native also notched a wind-aided time of 11.67 in the 100m dash at the meet.
Freshman Stephanie Aldea recorded a pair of first place finishes at the meet to lead the Cougars in the middle and long distance events. Aldea turned in a time 2:11.73 in the 800m and 4:30.36 in the 1,500m, respectively.
Sophomroe Laura Allred notched her first win of the season in the high jump, placing first with a clearance of 1.70m.
The Cougars return to action when they head to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the 2009 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 14-16.
