Megan Workman Commits to UH Women's Basketball

HOUSTON - After receiving commitments from two outstanding student-athletes during the fall signing period, the University of Houston women basketball team announced Wednesday the addition of Megan Workman to boost its incoming class of freshman.
Workman is a 6-foot-0 guard/forward who will come to the Space City after completing a standout prep career at Bowie High School in her hometown of Bowie, Texas.
"Megan is really an incredible all-around athlete who played both volleyball and softball in high school in addition to basketball, where she earned District Player of the Year and All-State honors," said head coach Joe Curl. "She fits our needs really well as she can be a true forward and has considerable scoring potential. She is a strong kid, who is good around the basket and we are really excited to have her come and be a part of our program."
On the hardwood, Workman earned First Team All-State and District 8 2A MVP honors and was named to the UIL All-State Tournament team as a senior after garnering District 8 2A Offensive Player of the Year honors during her junior season. During her freshman campaign, she was selected District 8 2A Newcomer of the Year and was selected First Team All-District as a sophomore.
In addition to being selected to numerous All-Star squads and All-Tournament teams, Workman was selected to the Academic All-State team as a senior.
During her prep career, Workman was also a four-year letterwinner in both softball and volleyball garnering both First Team All-District 8 2A in both sports, while being named both Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State and Academic All-State as a volleyball outside hitter.
Workman's commitment brings the number of UH's incoming freshman to three for the 2009-10 season. She joins Macy Morton and Zalika Dyson, who signed with UH in the fall.
