HOUSTON--After two days of postponing play due to rain, the University of Houston softball team takes two from Conference USA-rival Tulsa in the doubleheader played on Monday. The Cougars shutout Tulsa in both of the games, winning game one, 4-0 and game two, 7-0.With both wins, Houston improves to 11-11 this season and 3-2 in Conference USA.

A three-run homer by freshman Melissa Gregson, and one-hitter pitched by sophomore Amanda Crabtree helped the Cougars surge past Tulsa, 4-0, in game one and capture their third shutout of the season.
Gregson put the Cougars on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when she hit her fifth home run this season over the right center fence to score senior Elaina Nordstrom, who reached base on a walk, and senior Laurie Wagner, who reached base on a fielder's choice.
Sophomore Angela Spittler was caught stealing for the first time this season to end the inning for the Cougars.
Sophomore Jennifer Krause, who pinch ran for Nordstrom, recorded her first stolen base and run scored this season when she scored on Wagner's single to left center in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Cougars the 4-0 advantage.
Crabtree pitched a no-hitter until the top of the sixth inning when Jessica Stoelke hit a single to left field to give the Golden Hurricane their first and only hit of the game.
Houston was able to end the inning and Tulsa was never able to manufacture any runs.
Crabtree ended the game with a season-high 10 strikeouts, allowing only one hit and no runs.

Six consecutive hits in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Houston to take game two away from Tulsa, 7-0.
Jessica Valis got things started early with a single hit in the bottom of the first and advanced to second on an error by pitcher Katie Lee. Nordstrom came to the plate and hit a single to left field to score Jessica Valis and to give Houston a 1-0 lead over Tulsa.
With no outs, Jessica Valis advanced to third base on a SAC bunt by Katie Bush, after stealing second and reaching base on an error by shortstop Kailey Yarmer. Nordstrom hit her second single of the game and scored Jessica Valis for the Cougars second run of the game.
With bases loaded and one out in the top of the fourth, Crabtree came in as relief for sophomore Baillie Lott. Houston was able to get out of the jam after Jessica Stoelke popped up to Christa Raley for the second out, followed by a hard-hit line drive to Raley from Stephanie Chomicki to end the inning.
Houston added one more run in the bottom of the fifth with another single hit by Nordstrom to score sophomore Angela Spittler who reached base on an error by third baseman Chomicki.
Haley Valis led off the bottom of the sixth inning with her seventh double this season followed by Gregson hitting her third double this season. Houston scored four runs on six-consecutive hits before Nordstrom grounded out to third base for the first out of the inning. Houston would end the inning with a 7-0 advantage over Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane was unable to score in the seventh inning and Crabtree would improve to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in Conference USA. She allowed no runs, no hits and struck out four.
Nordstrom went 3-for-4 in the game with three RBI, while Jessica Valis and Bush had two hits and one RBI each. The Cougars had a combined 12 hits for their fourth game this season with 10 or more hits.
