Soccer Concludes 2009 Campaign at Rice

HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team concludes the 2009 campaign against cross-town rival Rice on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Rice Track/Soccer Stadium.
The matchup marks the ninth meeting between Houston (4-11-2, 2-6-2 C-USA) and Rice (5-10-3, 3-6-1 C-USA) with the all-time series standing at 3-4-1 in the Owls favor. Houston has recorded a combined six goals against Rice and has allowed eight. Last year, the Cougars pulled out a 1-0 win at home over Rice on Oct. 31.

Houston is coming off a tough three-game series against UTEP, Colorado College and No. 8 UCF. All three teams, in addition to Memphis, have secured bids to Dallas, Texas for the Conference USA Championship. The remaining eight teams are still competing for the final two spots.
Hosted by SMU, the championship will be held Nov. 4-8 at Westcott Field. The top-six finishers in regular season standings qualify for single-elimination tournament with the winner gaining the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
