HOUSTON - Fresh off a 55-3 win over Southern this weekend, the University of Houston football team got back to work on Monday hitting the UH practice fields.
The Cougars worked out for about an hour and a half and got an opportunity to practice in the rain. Head coach Kevin Sumlin thought the downpour gave the team a chance to work in other possible weather conditions.
"We were able to get outside, even in the rain," Sumlin said. "We were able to go through some special team situations and get to work on next week."
Houston returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Cougars head to Stillwater, Okla. to face Oklahoma State. Kickoff is slated for 6:05 p.m.
Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, David Klingler and Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sidelines. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff. Fans also can follow live stats over the Internet by clicking the Gametracker link at UHCougars.com.
Sumlin was pleased to get back to business as usual and have that first game out of the way.
"It feels good to have gotten that first game done with," Sumlin said. "That was a good game on Saturday and now it's time to play somebody else."
