Swimming and Diving Back In Action This Weekend

HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team will be back in action this weekend after a three-week break from competition.
The Cougars start the weekend with a dual against Michigan State at 2 p.m. on Oct. 31 in Lansing, Mich., and will then swim against Oakland University at noon on Nov. 1 in Rochester, Mich.
This will be the first ever meeting between Houston and Michigan State. The Cougars are 0-1 against Oakland, after the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Cougars 73-22 in 2000.

Houston is 2-0 this season in dual meets after defeating Southwestern and North Texas on Oct. 10 and 11, respectively.
UH defeated Southwestern, 132-88, behind 14 wins at the dual. The following day, Houston defeated North Texas, 174-126, at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium. At the meet, junior Jessica Shamburger won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.57, for the 10th fastest time in school history. Junior Anastasia Poszdniakova automatically qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving meet with her 307.43 points to win the 1-meter competition.
UP NEXT
Following the weekend on the road, Houston will return home for a meet against Rice and New Mexico State on Nov. 6. The Cougars will then host the Phill Hansel Dual Meet Weekend featuring Rice, Incarnate Word, Florida International and Vanderbilt on Nov. 14-15.
