2008 Houston Cougars Football Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES
** With 23 points, the Cougars scored in their 101st consecutive game... The Cougars have not been shut out since a 48-0 loss at Texas on Sept. 23, 2000.
** With the loss, the Cougars fell to 3-2 (.600) all-time in games played on Tuesdays... The Cougars also fell to 34-24-1 (.585) all-time during games not played on Saturday.
** The Cougars fell to 1-1 all-time against Marshall... Tuesday's game was the Cougars' first game against the Thundering Herd in West Virginia.
** The Cougars fell to 120-122-6 (.496) all-time when playing in the month of October.
** The Cougars fell to 43-46 (.483) all-time in C-USA games.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
** With two touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum has thrown a touchdown pass in 11 consecutive games.
** With two touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded the 11th multi-touchdown game of his career.
** With 317 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded his ninth straight game with at least 300 yards to set a school record... His streak topped the previous high of eight straight 300-yard games, set by David Klingler from Sept 8 to Nov. 3, 1990.
** With 317 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum recorded his eighth consecutive game with at least 300 passing yards... He tied the school record held by David Klingler in that category... Klingler threw for at least 300 yards in eight consecutive games from Sept. 8 to Nov. 3, 1990.
** With 317 passing yards, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum now has thrown for 3,008 yards during the 2008 season... He became only the fifth player in school history to reach 3,000 yards in a single season, joining David Klingler (1990, 1991), Andre Ware (1989), Jimmy Klingler (1992) and Kevin Kolb (2003, 2005, 2006)
** With two touchdown passes, sophomore quarterback Case Keenum posted the 48th and 49th touchdowns for which he was responsible during his career to move into sole possession of fifth place in UH career. History... Up next in the UH records books is Gary Mullins (1969-71) who was responsible for 52 touchdowns during his career.
** With his 2-yard touchdown run at the 2:27 mark of the fourth quarter, freshman running back Bryce Beall recorded his fourth straight game with at least one rushing touchdown... He became the first player to accomplish that feat since running back Anthony Alridge from Oct. 21 to Nov. 11, 2006.
** With five catches for 73 yards, freshman running back Bryce Beall set career highs in both categories... His reception total topped his previous best of three set at C-USA rival SMU on Oct. 18, while his yardage total best his previous high of 70 set against C-USA rival UAB on Oct. 8.
** With 104 receiving yards, redshirt freshman wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded the second 100-yard receiving game of his career... The Cougars fell to 1-1 (.500) when Carrier reaches triple digits.
** Junior kicker Ben Bell saw his streak of 41 consecutive PATs snapped with 41.7 seconds remaining in the third quarter... His streak dated back to his final of five PAT attempts at C-USA rival SMU on Nov. 11, 2006.
** Junior offensive lineman Matt Hart recovered his first career fumble around the 8:15 mark of the second quarter.
** Sophomore offensive lineman Jordan Shoemaker and freshman safety Nick Saenz each made their first career starts.
** With 19 tackles, senior safety Kenneth Fontenette set a career high in that category... His total topped his previous best of 18 tackles set against Louisiana-Lafayette on Oct. 7, 2006.
** Senior safety Kenneth Fontenette and senior defensive end Phillip Hunt each made their 47th consecutive starts dating back to the 2005 season... That tied with Thomas Gafford (2001-04) for the seventh longest streak in school history... Up next in the UH records book are Kade Lane (2002-05), Donnie Avery (2004-07) and Perry McDaniel (2004-07), who each started 49 consecutive games during their careers for the second-longest streaks in school history.
