Soccer to Face Southern Miss at 4 p.m. Friday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team heads out on the road as the Cougars close out a four-game road trip, facing Southern Miss and UCF in Conference USA action on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Houston (4-8-1, 0-5-1 C-USA) faces the Golden Eagles at 4 p.m. (CDT) on Friday before heading on to Orlando to face the Knights at 12 p.m. (CDT) Sunday.
The Cougars bring a 7-0-2 all-time record against Southern Miss, posting a 1-0 win in the last matchup between the two schools in 2006.
UH, however, looks to post the program's first win against UCF, trailing 0-3 in the all-time series.
Senior captain goalkeeper Shelby Scott has been solid in goal for the Cougars all season. The program leader in saves and shutouts, Scott has posted a 1.05 goals against average and four clean sheets to rank among the C-USA leaders.
Freshman forward Jessica Zavalza has added a spark to the Cougar offensive third this season. The energetic striker leads the club in goals scored and total points.
Fellow freshman Stephanie Derieg is tops on the team with three assists and second in total points in her rookie campaign.
