Lott Named Tennessee Softball Player of the Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - University of Houston signee Baillie Lott earned Tennessee Softball Player of the Year honors Wednesday as announced by Gatorade and Rise Magazine. The Brentwood High product signed an NLI with the Cougars during the early signing period in November 2006.
Lott notched a .528 batting average with 14 home runs and 81 RBIs last season. She compiled a .567 on-base percentage and a 1.024 slugging clip.
Lott also put together a 24-1 record for the Bruins in the circle with a stifling 0.38 ERA. She recorded 17 shutouts in 25 starts and stuck out 201 batters in 147 innings of work.
In the classroom, Lott maintained a 4.06 weighted GPA and was a member of the Middle Tennessee Coaches Association's All-Academic Team for the last three seasons. She also volunteers with Brentwood's "Care Bears," assisting with special needs students and donates her time to the Special Olympics along with Habitat for Humanity.
Rise Magazine is the official selection partner for the Gatorade Player of the Year program. Winners are selected not only for their outstanding athletic performance, but for meeting high academic-achievement standards while demonstrating exemplary personal character on and off the field.
Lott along with Jennifer Klinkert, Casey Willow, Angela Spittler and Katy Beth Sherman will join the Houston softball program in the fall as freshmen. The Cougars (44-18) are coming off the program's first Conference USA regular season and tournament titles.
