HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team (25-11, 8-1 C-USA) faces off with Sam Houston State (14-15, 5-4 SLC) Wednesday afternoon at 4pm in a mid-week doubleheader.
The Cougars have won 18 of their last 23 games. Three of the five setbacks during the streak have come against Top Five opponents. In fact, nine of Houston's 11 losses this season have come to currently ranked Top 25 opponents with five of those nine losses coming by a single run.
Houston recently had a stretch of 23 consecutive games against unranked opponents come to a close with a 2-1 loss to Memphis (March 25).
"Sam Houston State is solid ball club and will be ready to play us," head coach Kyla Holas said. "We need to stay focused and continue to work hard when we return to practice on Tuesday."
