HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team (23-10, 6-0 C-USA) takes on Memphis (17-9, 1-2 C-USA) this weekend in a Conference USA series. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single-game start at 1pm.
The Cougars have won 16 of its last 20 games. Three of the four setbacks during the streak have come against Top Five opponents. In fact, nine of Houston's 10 losses this season have come to Top 25 opponents with five of those nine losses coming by a single run.
"Our program has put a lot of time and effort in recruiting in addition to the schedule that we've played to get to this point," Holas said. "There's parity in our league and teams put their best foot forward in conference play. We have to stay focused and put in a good week of practice to get ready for Memphis."
Houston also has matched their best start in conference play. The 2003 team also started C-USA action with a 6-0 record. The Cougars have outscored its opponents 26-4 in conference games.
