HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team held their final practice this week in preparation for their game against Alabama on Saturday. The Cougars practice in jerseys and helmets for two hours under sunny skies for the fourth straight day this week.
Head coach Art Briles said the team has been focused this week and is ready to go to Alabama this weekend.
"The guys are focused in. It's getting close to the game so everyone is getting excited and ready to go to Alabama and get after it," Briles said.
After a disappointing loss last weekend, Briles says the team has responded well this week and has worked hard prepare for the match-up this weekend.
"They have responded really well. The thing about young people in general is that they are pretty resilient. They don't let things beat them up to much so we understand what we have to do," Briles said.
What we have to do is somewhere down the line is make-up for what didn't go our way last week. We are just focusing on ourselves, trying to be a better football team, trying to understand the mechanics of the game and represent this University out there in Tuscaloosa on Saturday."
The Cougars face Alabama at 2:07 p.m., Saturday at the Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sideline.
