HOUSTON, Texas - University of Houston running back Jackie Battle will bring some finality to his collegiate career, when he takes part in the Dell East-West Shrine Game tomorrow evening at Reliant Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm.
Battle lettered four years for the Cougars and capped his career with a Conference USA Third Team selection after rushing for a career-high 943 yards and 15 touchdowns. He finished his career with 2,120 rushing yards and a school-record 31 rushing touchdowns. His 15 TDs this season also set a mark, breaking the old record of 14 established by Antowain Smith in 1996. Battle was the Cougars' MVP of the 2003 Sheraton Hawai'I Bowl after rushing for 124 yards and three scores in the epic triple-overtime affair.
Battle becomes 18th former Cougar to take part in the East-West Shrine Game; the first since Hanik Milligan in 2003.
