HOUSTON - After taking a much-needed day off on Wednesday, the University of Houston football team returned to the practice fields this afternoon only to be scuttled inside by thunder, lightning and rain. The Cougars completed their afternoon workout inside the friendly confines of the Yeoman Field House, despite playing in full pads for only the second time this preseason.
Even though the practice plans were altered, UH head coach Art Briles and his staff just adapted to the new surroundings.
"(Moving inside) never bothers us or me personally," said Briles. "I think you change, you adjust to anything that happens, just like you do in a game. It's not a big deal. (The Astroturf) is little different feel and things are quicker inside.
"We're just thankful we have this facility to come inside and work out."
With summer session final exams winding down, the Cougars will hit the practice fields one more time tomorrow afternoon before preparing for their annual Media Day on Saturday, August 12. Houston plans on a few two-a-days next week, as the first day of the fall school semester (August 21) is on the horizon.
