HOUSTON - University of Houston senior tennis player Kami Miller was named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District VI Second Team Wednesday afternoon as announced by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
This is the first CoSIDA academic honor for Miller, who was selected as an ITA Scholar Athlete in both 2004 and 2005. The ITA will announce its academic awards in July. Miller is one of C-USA tennis players earning the academic award. Rice's Blair DiSesa along with SMU's Brooke and Halley Rambally tallied First Team accolades.
Miller completed a 28-7 season for the Cougars and notched a Conference USA Second Team selection earlier this month. She compiled a 20-5 mark during the spring season with 19 of her wins coming in straight sets.
The Glendale, Ariz. native won 14 of 17 matches in her primary position of No. 4 singles. Miller also compiled a 6-2 record in the No. 3 spot. She ended her Cougar career tied for sixth in career singles victories with a 96-36 overall record.
Houston finished 20-5 during the 2006 campaign and made the C-USA Semifinals for the fourth consecutive season.
