HOUSTON - University of Houston junior righthander Brad Lincoln was honored Tuesday as the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week.
It was the second time in 2006 and the third time in his career that Lincoln received the league's weekly award.
In the series opener at No. 8 LSU on Friday, the Clute, Texas, native limited the potent Tiger offense to only two runs off four hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings of work. It was his fifth consecutive start with at least seven strikeouts to open the 2006 season.
Lincoln now leads the Cougars in ERA (2.23), wins (3), innings pitched (32.1), strikeouts (42) and opposing batting average (.193).
He and his Cougar teammates return to action at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Cougar Field as they meet Lamar for the second time in eight days. The Cardinals escaped with a 5-4 win on Feb. 28 in Beaumont, Texas.
The game can be heard live over the Internet at www.UHCougars.com with former UH letterwinners Nick Torina and Pat Cauley calling all the action. Fans also can follow play-by-play action by clicking on the "Live Stats" link on the schedule at www.UHCougars.com.
Marshall's Brendan Murphy and Rice's Josh Rodriguez shared Hitter of the Week honors.
