Hey Coog Fans,
I know I haven't submitted an entry in about a week, but again, I've been insanely busy with this big paper I've been working on.
This past weekend in California was a fun experience and really was a big weekend for our team. Friday's victory against UC-Irvine wouldn't have happened without Brad Lincoln. That guy was lights out on the mound again, and he came up big with his bat again in the late innings with a home run that ended up being the game winner.
Saturday's win was another good one for the team and it was the team's first win of the season on the road on a Saturday. I think that's right. If not, I'm sure Jeff Conrad will beep and whistle at me.
Sunday, we dropped a heartbreaker to UC-Irvine in the 9th inning, but the important thing is we won the weekend. Yes, it would've been nice to sweep, but it just didn't happen for us.
Tuesday's win over No. 18 Baylor was only huge. I think that this win will play a big part late in the season when Regional selections are made. No, I'm not saying that our win over Baylor just got us into a Regional, but I am saying that it may help us get back to where we belong. I'm really glad that we beat Baylor so I have a little bit of bragging rights over my roommate's brother, who graduated from Baylor a few years ago.
This coming weekend is going to be another big weekend that could help determine where we stand when the postseason comes around. We are going up against the University of San Diego, who earlier this season swept Texas. So, needless to say, this team isn't going to lay down. They're going to be a tough challenge, but I think that we are up for it.
I would love to see a large crowd at Cougar Field this weekend, so bring the kids and have fun watching the greatest game in the world.
Oh, I'm supposed to mention the name of Nick Torina. Nick is the play-by-play announcer that many of you hear when you listen to our games on the radio. Nick has been begging me for a few weeks to mention his name in my online diary, so here you go, Nick. Keep up the hard work on the radio.
Thanks, Brett
