Hey Cougar Baseball Fans,
For any of you that don't know me, my name is Brett Logan, and I'm a fifth-year senior catcher on the Cougar Baseball Team. I'm going to be updating all of you every week about different things during the 2006 season. These things may vary from stuff that happens during practice, funny events happening in locker room or on road trips, info about the newer guys on the team, or my thoughts on whatever I want to talk about. R2D2 (Jeff Conrad, our baseball SID) has given me permission, through beeps and whistles of course, to write whatever is on my mind.
Today, I'll give you a brief, preseason outlook before we kick off our season against Texas-San Antonio. Since we started practice on Jan. 10, with three-a-day practices no less, our intensity levels and enthusiasm are at an all-time high. We are very excited getting started, but as of right now, we are not looking any further than UTSA. Our attitude is to concentrate on one game at a time.
As a team, we are looking at the season in small increments. Every game is a little piece of the bigger puzzle. As we go along we plan to put quite a few of those little pieces together in hopes of getting to the post season and on to "The Promised Land."
With the addition of key players, some with valuable college experience under their belts, and several of the young guys gaining a year of experience last season, I think that we really have a chance to go places this year. We've added much needed power to the roster from several of the newcomers.
I can't wait to see some of your reactions when you see a few of these guys hit. A few of our pitchers that are assigned to retrieve home run balls in batting practice tend to get a little cranky, but at the same time, I think they're happy to see what the hitters are capable of.
Well, that's all for right now. I need to go grab some lunch and lift weights before practice starts, but I hope to see several of you at the opener on Tuesday against UTSA. Don't forget; it starts at 2pm.
Thanks, Brett
