Hey Coog Fans,We had a very eventful weekend at the Houston College Classic. Even though we were 1-2 in the win-loss column, I feel that we still competed and played well. I thought that we had some clutch hitting in a few key situations, but it just didn't happen for us on Friday or Saturday.
I was going to submit an entry after Saturday's game, but I had to start working on a huge paper that is due at the end of the semester.
The TCU game on Saturday was another well fought game, but we just didn't come out on top. A few of our guys had good games on Saturday afternoon. Isa Garcia played really well despite the fact that he was battling the stomach flu all day - that kid's a gamer.
I thought Aaron Brown pitched well, and Mark McGonigle came up with a big hit in the top of the ninth, but we just couldn't get anyone else across the plate.
The game on Sunday was really well-played in my opinion. Dustin Kingsbury had a good day, going 3-4 with some clutch hitting in the early goings of the game. Brad Lincoln pitched great for the second time this week, striking out nine Texas Tech Red Raiders in seven shutout innings.
I'm really pleased that we came out of the weekend with at least one win. Even though we are 2-2, the team still knows it's early, and we feel more than confident about our upcoming games this week.
On a side note, I've received word (beep/whistle) from Jeff Conrad (R2/D2) that many people have noticed this little online diary, and I just wanted to say thanks.
