Hey Coog Fans,
Well, Friday's game didn't go our way, but we fought hard. It just didn't happen. We hit balls hard all night, but just about every one that we hit went right at one of their guys.
A lot of our balls were run down by Texas' center fielder Drew Stubbs. Isa Garcia hit a ball that Stubbs ran down tonight that the right fielder should've caught. Luis Flores hit a ball that every one thought was going to fall in left center, but Stubbs went and got that one too. The last one I can think of was one off the bat of freshman Tom Williams. Tommy smoked a ball into the left center cap, but of course was robbed by Stubbs.
Coach Noble told the team after the game tonight that he was pleased with the way we fought even though we didn't come out on top. If a few of those balls that we hit hard fell, then Friday's outcome could've quite possibly been different. But all in all, we went right at them and we tried our best.
What we have to focus on now is TCU. We need to get a strong start from our starting pitcher, continue to hit the ball hard and have good at bats, and keep playing solid defense. If we can do those things, then I think we can get the job done tomorrow afternoon.
I thought that we had a strong outing from Matt Farrington tonight, and I thought Ricky Hargrove was great out of the bullpen. Matt and Ricky both really had great stuff tonight. They both had a few big strikeouts in key situations with big threats at the plate, and they kept the ball down.
Well, I'm off to bed. I'm a little tired and need to get some rest before Saturday afternoon's game.
See ya, Brett
