Softball Announces 2006 Promotions

HOUSTON - Fans of the University of Houston softball program will have plenty of fun in the stands at the Cougar Softball Stadium this season with an exciting schedule of promotions and game themes throughout the 2006 season.
Be My Valentine Night gets everything underway on Feb. 15 when the Cougars square off with a doubleheader against McNeese State. First pitch is slated for 4pm, and there will be several giveaways and door prizes.
The Marriott Houston Hobby Invitational kicks off with Belliare Girls' Softball Night on Feb. 17 as the Cougars square off against No. 11 Baylor and Sam Houston State. At the Crowne Plaza Classic on Feb. 23-25, fans will be able to enjoy a Mardi Gras Weekend without heading to the Big Easy. Houston opens the tournament against No. 25 BYU at 6pm, Feb. 23. Beads will be tossed throughout the tournament.
Fans can indulge in the first of two Dollar Dog Days on Saturday on March 11 when the Cougars open Conference USA action against East Carolina. The doubleheader against the Pirates begins at 1pm. Dollar Dog Day is also on tap for the April 25 doubleheader against Grambling State.
The Houston softball program will salute female local heroes all weekend long against UTEP on Apr. 1-2 as many military, teaching and fire personnel will be honored.
After the April 9 doubleheader against Arkansas Pine-Bluff, kids can enjoy an Easter Egg hunt in the outfield.
As the Cougars welcome Southern Miss to the Bayou City on April 22-23, it also will be Father/Daughter weekend. Fathers and daughters receive two for the price of one admission to the Cougar Softball Stadium and the most spirited father/daughter duo receives a special prize. It will also by YMCA Day against the Golden Eagles on Apr. 23.
The Cougar Softball Stadium will certainly be a boisterous place on April 25 as the team celebrates Kids' Day against Grambling State. It's a school field trip to the UH Athletics Department for local elementary school kids.
The team will celebrate Girl Scout Day on May 6 in a doubleheader against Memphis. First pitch against the first-year Tigers is at 1pm. On May 7, fans can celebrate Senior Day and Stuff the Stadium as the team honors its 2006 seniors against Memphis. The Cougars invite UH students and the community to help set a new attendance record in saying goodbye to the senior class. All kids wearing a sports jersey will get free admission to the game.
