hOUSTON, Texas - For the final time during fall practice the University of Houston football team participated in two-a-days, wrapping up the annual double days with a grueling workout in the morning and a spirited practice in the afternoon.
UH head coach Art Briles wanted more out of his troops this morning.
"We got through it," said Briles. "We need to challenge ourselves a bit more. Maybe be a little more determined about being serious about being good.
"It was a little warm, a little humid, but guess what, that is Houston, and that is what we have to work through and get better from it. That is an advantage for us and we need to use it that way."
With this in mind, the Cougars returned to the practice fields in full pads this afternoon, having to move to Field #3 because of wet conditions. Houston worked through all facets of its game in a two-hour workout.
"We came out with a little more enthusiasm," added Briles, "with a lot more effort and a better attitude. We had a good two-hour practice."
Houston will hold its second scrimmage of the preseason at 6 pm, when the entire squad is scheduled for a long battle at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. Cougar fans are invited to attend.
