GREENVILLE, N.C. - The University of Houston softball team fell 3-2 to the ECU Pirates on Saturday, in the third of a three-game series with the Conference USA foe.
The win drops the Cougars to an even 18-18 on the season and 3-6 in C-USA, while the Pirates improve to 41-8 and 7-2 in C-USA play.
Houston has now dropped six straight games, marking the longest losing streak of the season for the Cougars.
After two scoreless innings in the game, the Cougars broke the drought when freshman Angel Shamblin fired a shot into the right field gap that scored senior Kim Nesloney who had reached base on a walk to start the inning.
However, the Houston lead didn't last for long as the Pirates put three runs on the boards in the bottom of the third to take the lead from the Cougars and go ahead 3-1.
The Cougars managed to close the gap in the sixth with a run by Glowacz, who was drove in off a deep single to left field by junior Brandi Clark. The inning ended with Houston trailing 3-2.
Houston next travels to face Texas A&M at Corpus Christi in a rematch of one of last season's NCAA Regional games, which the Cougars won 1-0. The two teams face off in Corpus Christi on Saturday, April 2, in a doubleheader set to begin at 2 p.m.
