Women's Basketball to face Cincinnati and Louisville this weekend

With a record of 13-3 overall and 4-0 in C-USA play, the Lady Cougars head to Cincinnati (5-11 overall and 0-3 in C-USA) on Jan. 21, 2005 at 7 pm and then onto the ESPN 2 televised game against Louisville ( 11-5 overall and 2-1 in C-USA) on Jan 23, 2005 at 3 pm.
Cincinnati leads the series between the Lady Cougars 9-3. However, the last time these two teams met in the C-USA tournament on March 5, 2004, Houston won 84-67.
Louisville also leads the series 7-2. The Lady Cougars are looking to avenge their 77-75 loss in OT to the Cardinals in Hofheinz pavilion in Jan. 25, 2004.
Sancho Lytlle is looking to claim her 14th and 15th double-double on the season, Lyttle leads the Lady Cougars in scoring, averaging 20 points per game and has had big games this past weekend at Hofheinz. In the game against UAB on Jan 14, 2005, she had a career high 4 blocks. In the game against USF on Jan. 16, 2005 she pulled down a career -high and school record tying 20 rebounds. She was 15-25 from the field
Other notable players include Senior Guard Joann Overstreet who leads the conference in steals (8 per game) and assists (Avg. 7.31 per game). Senior G/F Crystal Simpson added 10 points for Houston in the game against USF ( Avg. 7.8 PPG). Freshman Jasmin Moore has become a force to recon with coming off the bench ands nailing 45 points in the last 5 games.
The Lady Cougars can also clinch their 500th win in program history this weekend. They are two wins away.
The Lady Cougars return home to face their conference rivals TCU on Sunday Jan.30. 2005, 2:00 pm at Hofheinz pavilion. The last time these two teams met, Houston beat TCU, 86-75, to clinch the C-USA championship and move on to the NCAA tournament.
