Former Lady Cougar Heats Up Down Under

Univeristy of and Houston former Foward/Guard and first round WNBA draft pick, Chandi Jones showed the WNBL players how its done when she set a new franchise record with 45 points for her team the Townsville Fire.
The press is calling it"awe-inspiring" when Chandi netted 45 points on 18 of 29 shooting from the field in the game against the Adelaide Lightning.

Chandi Jones is no stranger to breaking records and making history. She first made history in 2002 when she became the fastest player in C-USA history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, scoring her 1,000th point in 46 games.
In addition, she became only the fourth player in Houston basketball history to reach the mark - joinin Cougar legends Elvin Hayes, Otis Birdsong and Michael Young - and the second-fastest in Cougar history, behind only Elvin Hayes.
Chandi led the Lady Cougars to their first-ever C-USA Tournament title on March 7 over TCU,pouring in 36 points and pulling down two boards while adding five assists, one block and one steal. She was 5-for-6 from the arc and 9-for-10 at the free-throw line.
Chandi Jones will be honored in a ceremony following the Lady Cougar basketball game against St. Louis on February 5 at 7 pm CST, when her jeresey will be retired.
