Former University of Houston women's basketball star Chandi Jones will have her No. 13 jersey retired on Saturday, Feb. 5. immediately following the Lady Cougars game with Saint Louis at Hofheinz Pavilion. Jones who wrapped up her collegiate career in 2003-04, is the most heralded Lady Cougar and one of the most celebrated student-athlete in Houston's history. Among her many accolades, Jones was a three-time Conference USA Player of the Year, Kodak All-American , Associated Press All-American, First Team All-C-USA, and more. She was C-USA's all-time leading scorer, and the nation's leading scorer among Division 1 in 2002-03. Jones became the first Lady Cougar in school history to be taken in the first round, eighth overall, of the WNBA Draft when the Detroit Shock drafted Jones with their first pick in 2204. Jones will be on-hand for the ceremony that will honor the retirement of her jersey as well as celebrating the 2003-04 Conference USA championship team with a ring ceremony and 2004 National Coach of the Year Joe Curl.
