HOUSTON, Texas - Conference USA today announced the 2005 and 2005 crossover opponents for football, with the University of Houston facing UCF for the first time in school history under the new format. The Cougars other crossover games for the next two years are Memphis and Southern Miss, both 2003 bowl participants. The scheduling model, which was approved during the Athletic Directors meeting last week, calls for each team to play four home and four away games in league play. In addition to playing every team in its division once, each school will play three games against opponents from the opposite division. The new-look conference takes effect next season with the Cougars residing in the West Division of C-USA. Rice, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa and UTEP join Houston in this division. The East Division is comprised of East Carolina, Marshall and UAB, as well as the aforementioned three schools. In addition, the Cougars home and away conference schedule were selected for 2005 and will be reversed for 2006. UH will play host to Memphis, Rice, SMU and Southern Miss and travel to Tulane, Tulsa, UCF and UTEP. --- www.UHcougars.com ---
