Cougar Tennis' Foley Named to C-USA First Team

HOUSTON - The University of Houston's tennis team landed two players on the 2004Conference USA All-Conference Team, with Miranda Foley grabbing First Team honors and Biljana Dimovska Third Team.
Foley, a sophomore who makes her second appearance on the C-USA All Conference team, spent the second half of the year at No.1 singles for the Cougars, closing out the year with an 8-5 record at No. 1 and 13-5 overall. She recorded two wins at the C-USA Championship with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Veronica Garcia Briseno of Marquette, and a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win over Louisville's Michele Spiess to clinch third place.
In her freshman campaign in 2003, Foley went 11-9 in the Cougars' No. 1 and 2 singles spots and was named to the C-USA Second Team.
Dimovska was a solid No. 2 for the Cougars in 2004, compiling a 7-4 record while going 5-5 at No. 1 early in the season. In the only match Dimovska finished in the C-USA Championship, she defeated Louisville's Paige Eber, 6-1, 6-0. Dimovska finished the year with a 12-9 record.
Foley and Dimovska also paired up in doubles this year, compiling a 12-7 record on the season.
The Cougars finished third at the C-USA Tournament after receiving the No. 3 seed at the completion of the regular season.
Tulane's Jenny Kuhn was named C-USA Player of the Year for the second consecutive year while DePaul's Gergana Ganeva was named Freshman of the Year. Tulane led all teams with six all-league selections, followed by TCU with three, while DePaul and Houston each had two selections apiece.
