Cougar tennis drops two in New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of Houston fell to No. 32 University of New Mexico women's tennis team 7-0 Sunday afternoon and dropped their match with Wisconsin 6-1 Monday afternoon.
In doubles action, UNM clinched the doubles point with three victories. At the No. 1 position Houston's Biljana Dimovska and Miranda Foley fell to Sandy Lukowski and Maja Kovacek 8-5. Karine Urbin and Diana Martin were defeated by the duo of Iva Gersic and Maria Ruiz-Fabrega 8-0. In the final doubles match UNM's Tiffany Robertson and Michelle Heidbrink grabbed an 8-3 win over Yolandi Terblanche and Kami Miller.
In singles action, No. 1 singles was a close match with Houston's Dimovska falling to Kovacek. The two played to a 10 point match tie breaker with Kovacek pulling out a 6-4, 6-7, 1-0(11-9) win. Gersic defeated Houston's Foley 6-4, 6-4 in the second spot, Terblanche fell to Robertson 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot while Martin lost to Lukowksi 6-2, 6-0 in the No. four spot. In the fifth spot Miller fell to UNM's Heidbrink 6-2, 6-2 and Urbin dropped her match in the six spot 6-0, 6-2 to Tjasa Suvak .
Against No. 70 Wisconsin the University of Houston tennis team fell 6-1 to drop to 4-5 on the season.
The Cougars lone singles victory came in the No. six singles match as Kami Miller defeated Lexi Goldin 6-4, 6-2. After winning the first set 6-4, Biljana Dimovska. Was defeated by Katie McGaffigan 4-6, 6-4, 10-5. Miranda Foley dropped her match with Shana McElroy 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, Yolandi Terblanche fell 6-1, 6-1 to Lindsay Martin, Houston's Diana Martin fell 6-2, 7-6 (5) to Teresa Gonzaga and Karine Urbin lost to Kaylan Caiati 6-1, 6-2.
Houston picked up a win in double play as Urbin and Miller combined to take out Caiati and Goldin 8-3.
