Hey Coog fans,
It's Wednesday, and we are going to practice in a couple of hours. This past weekend was quite disappointing because I felt we had a better team than we showed, but we had crisp practice on Monday in preparation for Long Beach State.
Our goal is to take a step forward with each game and to keep getting better. This weekend is going to be an even tougher test, but we are going to be ready. Our whole philosophy is based on preparation, and the losses we have suffered are not due to a lack of it. I feel we'll be fine this weekend if we can iron out the problems with our pitching and get a key hit here or there.
The talent is definitely here and it's just a matter of time. Over the past three years I've been here we've never gotten off to a fabulous start and have always improved as the season went on.
The next player on the team I would like to talk about is our third baseman Nick Bott. Nick transferred here at mid-semester last year and gave us some depth. He earned a lot of respect from the team right away by catching decently even though he had never played the position before. That just shows how athletic this guy is even though he led the nation in clanks.
Nick is solid and has five other brothers built the same way which explains why he is so tough. Bott is also quite a jokester and usually gets a rise out of the whole team, especially me, because I'm usually the one egging him on.
Another thing about Nick is his management of school, baseball, and a wife and kid. I can't say enough nice things about Marquel and Hunter, and I think it's a reflection of what kind of man Nick is.
