Hey Coog fans,
What an awesome weekend at Minute Maid. Even though we lost two close ones I feel our team is going to really do some damage this season. There is always uncertainty before the beginning of every season and I couldn't be happier with the character of this team. The dugout never seemed too up or down during the games, and we never felt that we couldn't come back. We really are working on ironing the little things we did wrong during the weekend in practice. Monday's practice was excellent and we going to be ready for those Owls.
After the Texas game I had a lengthy Accounting assignment and stayed up pretty late doing it. Then I had to go to class decently early until 2:30 p.m., which is right before practice. I ran over straight to practice and went through Coach Noble's high-intensity practice preparing us for tomorrow.
It gets difficult to think about school during the season, especially the beginning, because most of the time your on the baseball field doing what you love out in the sunshine instead of learning about risk and balance sheets in a class without windows. Hope to see a lot of fans tomorrow and this weekend when we take on Fullerton.
Instead of just talking about my week for every entry I'd like to give you some kind of idea about the guys on the team every week and what they're like. Every guy on this team and past teams are like brothers and I don't want to bore everyone to death talking about my boring week.
I'm going to start with our new catcher Rob Johnson. This guy is a hoss from Butte, Montana. He is a very soft-spoken guy. I have to ask him to repeat himself a boatload of times, but he cracks. I also hit with him a lot and I never lose focus taking BP with him because when it comes to baseball, he is nothing but focused and intense. He loves his wranglers and cowboy hat. I had the pleasure of eating some elk that he shot over Christmas not too long ago. I wanted bear, but he said he didn't see one.
Another thing about Rob is he doesn't beat around the bush and takes his craft very seriously. You don't get genuine guys like Rob every day to come play for your team and I can't wait to see him tear it up this season. We were very lucky to get this guy here.
