HOUSTON - Head coach John Severance of the women's tennis team at the University of Houston announced the signing of Victoria Simpson form Essex, Great Britain, as the newest addition to the Cougar squad.
The signing of Simpson came during the NCAA early signing period when high school seniors are allowed to sign and return their letters of commitment.
Simpson, who prepped at Shenfield High School in Essex, will join a Cougar team comprised of at least six returning athletes in the 2005-06 campaign.
"The University of Houston has had a strong British tradition with many outstanding British players," said Severance. "I believe Victoria will be another one of those strong additions in a long line of good players."
Throughout her playing career in Great Britain, Simpson has attained an LTA rating of 2.1 and is an addition Severance is excited to have signed during the early signing period.
"I am pleased that Victoria has decided to come join this team," said Severance. "She will be an addition that will help our team for the next few years."
